What is Nolan’s Hospital Planning Framework?

The Framework is a spreadsheet-based planning tool designed to help hospitals plan and budget. During the national debate on health care reform, many hospitals will find that the Framework can help them evaluate the impact of various reform proposals on their operation.

The Framework uses a hospital's historic data and assumptions it makes to model:

The model can help identify financial impacts under differing payer mix and reimbursement scenarios. If a short fall is identified, the model has an easy way to evaluate what types and sizes of management actions may be needed to offset the shortfall.

The Framework is designed to be populated in about 30 minutes with data from a typical hospital data warehouse. Because the model is a spread sheet, it can be easily modified to reflect specific aspects of a hospital. It can be used at the Department, Facility, or System level.
