Nolan has developed and deployed experiential-based tools and techniques,
including:
Nolan Practices
Experiential based process models that include key processing functions and processing goals. Nolan Practice models allow us to quickly assess the efficacy of specific processing functions (e.g. Medicaid Revenue Management).

Process Maturity Mapping
Based on the industry standard CMMI methodology, this approach allows us to quickly determine how well processes are defined and managed.

Single Factor Design
A Nolan process where facilitated sessions are run to focus on a single dimension of an improvement goal (e.g. an improvement goal to reduce cycle time and improve accuracy has two dimensions). Multiple sessions are used to address all dimensions of a goal. It is an efficient process for developing practical solutions.

Main Sequencing
A Nolan technique that categorizes work as key tasks (Main Sequence), Secondary Work, or Managerial Work. This approach allows the value of work to be identified and quantified.

“Navigator Staffing Evaluator”
A data based tool for estimating service center staffing requirements.

Operating Income Modeling
Based on granular cost allocation models that allow modeling of operating income based on changes to revenue and cost; also used to support our MMLR offering.
