The use of metrics and scorecards is an evolving area as companies develop operational risk practices within their organizations. Although metrics are essential to the life cycle of reinsurance transactions, for many companies, consolidating metrics across business units remains a manual exercise. The insurance industry has historically viewed benchmarking as a means of statistical data comparison for rating agencies and regulators. Best practices in the areas of people, process and technology will allow companies to assess their own organizations and work toward continuous improvement This session will address issues and challenges in using metrics to support insurance and reinsurance operations for objective management, reporting, and process improvement Objectives: Learn about operational metrics and critical factors and how to measure performance against objective standards and accepted industry practices Identify key business processes and the standards which determine whether those processes are working effectively. Examine case studies demonstrating how performance is measured and how challenges of tracking metrics can be successfully addressed
